A short guide to collecting customer files on Shopify — without the chaos.
1. Install
- Install from the Shopify App Store (or your Partner distribution link).
- Approve the requested scopes.
- Open UploadFlow AI from Apps in Shopify admin.
In the app you’ll mainly use Home, Products, Files, and Ask for file.
2. Set up a product
- Go to Products → Sync from Shopify.
- Open a product → turn uploads On.
- Add fields (for example “Artwork” or “Logo”). Mark required fields if shoppers must upload before add to cart.
3. Add the product-page uploader
This is the main way customers send files.
- Deploy the app extensions (
shopify app deploy) if you haven’t already. - In the app, open Products and use Open theme editor (or Theme editor → Product template → Add section → Apps → UploadFlow product upload).
- Optional: Cart template → UploadFlow cart uploads (also available via deep link in the app).
- Optional: Thank-you page → UploadFlow Thank You.
On the product page, customers pick a file, see a preview, and (on Pro) get AI feedback before checkout.
4. Review files in admin
Open Files. By default you’ll see items that Need review.
- Approve — file is good to use.
- Request changes — tell the customer what to fix, then optionally send an Ask-for-file link.
5. Ask for file (backup)
Use this only when someone needs to replace a file after review — not for the first upload.
- Open Ask for file → Create link.
- Choose the product and customer email.
- Copy the link and send it by email (or your usual channel).
The same portal also supports order + email lookup at /portal if a customer lost their link.
6. AI checks (Pro)
On Pro, AI can flag print-readiness issues (resolution, blur, color mode) while the customer is still on the product page so they can replace the file immediately. Treat AI as a helper — always review critical jobs before production.
7. Plans & billing
- Free — 25 uploads / month, 500 MB storage
- Pro — unlimited uploads, 10 GB storage, AI, OCR, public API — $9.99/mo or $99/yr via Shopify Billing
Upgrade, switch monthly/annual, or downgrade to Free from Plans in the app (Shopify Billing). See Pricing.
8. Privacy & GDPR
UploadFlow responds to Shopify’s customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact webhooks. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
